Dr. Jay Desai has a total of 19 years experience as a doctor of optometry. He served patients of all ages in the Bronx and Yonkers. Dr. Desai is an expert in evaluating vision problems that can affect academic success. In addition to assessing distance vision acuity, he also evaluates how the eyes work as a team for reading. Dr. Desai?s other specialty lies in treating glaucoma. He focuses on providing patients with proper education so that they can effectively manage this condition. His third area of expertise involves treating diabetics. His main goal is to prevent eye complications from diabetes. He educates patients on how to reduce blood sugar spikes and discusses sleep apnea risks, as this can aggravate diabetic complications. Thanks to over 14 years of working with retinal specialists, Dr. Desai is versed in managing those who already have eye complications from diabetes, and knows when to make referrals to a retinal specialist.
